Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking a Lead Data Analyst to provide analytical leadership for Education and Children's Services. You will shape how data is used to drive service improvement, working with senior managers and a small team of analysts to develop reporting, intelligence and insight.

You will lead Power BI reporting solutions, promote robust data governance, and contribute to the Council's Data Strategy and Digital & Data Transformation Programme, ensuring high-quality information

Qualifications

• Significant experience in data analysis, BI and reporting with the ability to translate data into meaningful insight.
• Experience leading analytical teams and managing multiple workstreams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication with senior managers and service leaders.
• Experience with data governance and improving data quality and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of analysts, providing direction, support and quality assurance across analytical and reporting activity.
• Develop and deliver high-quality management information, performance reporting and insight to support decision making across Education and Children's Services.
• Lead the design and implementation of Power BI dashboards and business intelligence solutions.
• Work with senior managers and service leaders to identify analytical requirements and translate these into actionable insight and data products.
• Support inspection readiness, statutory reporting and performance management through the provision of robust and reliable data and analysis.
• Lead improvements in data quality, data governance and reporting processes, helping services move away from spreadsheet-based reporting towards trusted, data-driven decision making, while supporting delivery of the Council's Data Strategy and Digital & Data Transformation Programme.
