Job summary

MASS is seeking an experienced Lead Data Analyst in the UK to oversee a specialist team evaluating performance, reliability and effectiveness of complex defence systems. You will lead analysis activities, mentor team members, engage with stakeholders and deliver insights to support critical decision-making.

The role requires five years of system analysis experience, a STEM degree, and the ability to obtain UK government security clearance. Strong communication and data storytelling are essential.

Qualifications

• Five years of system analysis experience.
• Eligible to work in the UK and able to obtain UK government security clearance.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder briefing skills.
• Experience with data, statistics, and decision-support.
• Experience with maritime weapon systems or defense domain is advantageous.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Data Analyst to oversee a specialist team responsible for assessing the performance, reliability and effectiveness of complex Defence systems. Combining technical expertise with strong leadership skills, you will manage analysis activities, guide and develop team members, engage with key stakeholders, and deliver high-quality insights that support critical decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for data analysis, problem-solving and continuous improvement within a highly technical and operational environment. Your main responsibilities will be to:

• Manage a small team providing expert analysis services.
• Ensure contracted core deliveries meet agreed milestones.
• Resource manage and support, where necessary, the analysis of functional data to determine system performance and reliability.
• Provide briefings to our intelligent customer and represent / support them at technical meetings.
• Ensure the effective dissemination of high-quality information to appropriate stakeholders.
• Ensure the application of recognised best practice in specialist areas.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to early career team members and support them in developing specialist skills where applicable.
  Strong leadership, teamwork and organisational skills.
• Minimum five years of system analysis experience.
• A commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
• Good understanding of system performance and statistical analysis.
• Experience of working with data, in an established team environment, to understand how it can help an organisation make better decisions.
• High standards of written, verbal and presentational communication skills., A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience (ten years' experience of the operation or maintenance of maritime weapon systems).
• Data Analysis methods - modelling, classification, regression, clustering, simulation and prediction
• Flexible and adaptable communicator who can tell a great factual story and adapt it to their audience.
• A natural curiosity, methodical and prodigious at solving problems.
