Job summary

White Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Customs Clerk in Dover to join a busy freight forwarding team. You will prepare, review and submit import, export and transit declarations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK HMRC rules.

The successful candidate will bring at least four years' customs brokerage experience, strong knowledge of UK procedures, and proficiency with CargoWise. This full-time on-site role includes a weekend on-call rota and close collaboration with customers

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years’ experience within customs brokerage.
• Good knowledge of UK customs procedures and regulations.
• Experience preparing and submitting import, export and transit customs declarations.
• Good working knowledge of CargoWise.
• Fast and accurate typing skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing customs entries.
• Ability to work efficiently within a busy customs environment.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive, reliable and willing to learn and develop within the customs department.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit import, export and transit customs declarations.
• Ensure customs entries are completed accurately and in compliance with UK customs regulations.
• Process customs documentation efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Work closely with customers, hauliers and internal departments to ensure the smooth movement of shipments.
• Resolve customs-related queries promptly and professionally.
• Maintain accurate customs records and documentation.
• Ensure all customs activities comply with HMRC legislation and company procedures.
• Support the wider customs team during busy operational periods.
• Deliver a high level of customer service while meeting operational deadlines.
• Participate in a remote on-call rota covering one weekend per month.
