Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disabilities for Carmarthen. This full-time role (37.5 hours/week) offers leadership in specialist LD psychiatry, working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care across West Wales.

You will lead complex assessments, develop treatment plans and contribute to education, governance and service development while collaborating with health, social care and third-sector partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with learning disabilities and associated mental health needs.
• Take continuing clinical responsibility for patients under their care.
• Participate in the consultant on-call rota and provide senior clinical support both in and out of hours as required.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and transformation of Learning Disability services.
• Support partnership working across health, social care and third-sector organisations.
• Provide specialist expertise and advice to colleagues, carers, families and partner agencies.
• Contribute to teaching, training and professional development within the organisation.
