Job summary

Pertemps Solihull is seeking a Lead CNC Programmer to join our Solihull manufacturing team on a Temp to Perm basis. The role combines CNC milling programming, setting and operating with mentoring apprentices on the shop floor.

You will produce high-quality precision components, troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive continuous improvement and 6S standards. Static day shift, 39 hours per week.

Lead CNC Programmer

Location: Solihull

Opportunity: Temp to Perm

Hours: 39 hours per week

Working Hours: Static Day shift

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team in Solihull on a Temp to Perm basis.

This hands-on role combines CNC milling programming, setting and operating with mentoring and supporting apprentices as they develop their engineering skills.

You will be responsible for producing high-quality precision components safely and efficiently, while providing technical support on the shop floor, troubleshooting manufacturing issues and contributing to a culture of quality, continuous improvement and skills development.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Work with a range of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure components meet required tolerances and timescales.
• Support and supervise trainee setups, encouraging practical problem-solving skills.
• Mentor apprentices and less experienced team members, sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
• Set and operate manual machinery and use a range of hand tools.
• Troubleshoot machining and manufacturing issues.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and maintain equipment appropriately.
• Work independently and as part of a wider manufacturing team.
• Communicate effectively with CNC setters, operators, supervisors and the Manufacturing Manager.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety.
• Contribute to improvements in productivity, safety and product quality.
• Maintain 6S standards and promote a right-first-time approach.
