Precision People UK is partnering with a well-established precision engineering business in the Midlands to appoint a lead engineer focused on complex machining processes and new product introduction. The role offers progression into engineering management as the workload expands.
You will own complete machining processes from drawings, select equipment, tooling and gauging, and drive projects from design through to production with close collaboration across programming, shop floor, and quality
Qualifications
- Understanding the complete machining process from drawings.
- Ability to select machines, tooling and gauging to meet specs.
- Experience with multi-axis and high-precision production.
Responsibilities
- Design complete machining processes from engineering drawings.
- Select machines, tooling, workholding and gauging.
- Support 5-axis and twin-spindle machining where appropriate.
- Lead new machining projects from customer approval into production.
- Collaborate with programmers, setters, operators and quality teams.
- Troubleshoot dimensional problems on the shop floor.
- Improve cycle times, scrap levels and process consistency.
- Contribute to manufacturability discussions with customers.
