Job summary

Crouch Waterfall, part of the Vulcain Engineering Group, seeks a Principal Civil & Structural Engineer to lead technical delivery on rail, bridges and civil structures from our Basingstoke base. You’ll mentor engineers, review designs, manage programmes, and coordinate with clients and senior leadership to drive successful outcomes.

The role suits Chartered Engineers with a strong track record in large-scale structures, exposure to rail, and proficiency in structural software such as Tedds,

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with proven leadership of large-structures design (bridges, steel, concrete).
• Strong track record in delivering rail and civil projects from conception to completion.
• Experience in reviewing designs, calculations and technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of complex civil and structural projects (bridges, steel, concrete, temporary works).
• Mentor and manage Engineers and Technicians, providing coaching and technical guidance.
• Act as technical reviewer for designs and calculations produced by others.
• Perform site inspections and structural assessments and produce reports.
• Plan delivery programmes, allocate resources, and coordinate with senior leadership.
• Support commercial aspects including forecasting, invoicing, and fee management.
• Engage with clients to define scope and ensure successful outputs.
• Contribute to tender preparation and business growth.
