Job summary

Babcock International is seeking a Principal Civil Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership on complex civil and structural projects, delivering safe, compliant solutions within a highly regulated environment. The role combines hands-on design with governance and stakeholder engagement to ensure high standards are met.

The position is predominantly remote with travel to Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth as needed.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in civil and structural engineering design within complex infrastructure, engineering or industrial projects.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing technical work packages.
• Strong understanding of governance, safety and quality requirements within regulated environments.
• Knowledge of, or the ability to interpret, American seismic design codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of civil and structural engineering work packages, ensuring projects are delivered to scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
• Providing technical leadership and specialist engineering expertise throughout the design lifecycle.
• Managing technical design packages from concept development through implementation, assurance and handover.
• Reviewing engineering designs, calculations and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with governance, safety and quality standards.
