Job summary

Warwickshire County Council is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the S278 Highways Team within Engineering Design Services (EDS) to deliver developer-funded highway improvements across Warwickshire. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians, manage complex projects, and engage with stakeholders to improve road safety, reduce congestion and enhance connectivity.

The role requires strong leadership, project management, and the ability to coordinate with other design

Qualifications

Experience leading engineers and technicians in highway projects.
Strong written and oral communication with stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage complex infrastructure projects and budgets.
Knowledge of S278 procedures and related design standards.

Responsibilities

Direct and manage a team of Engineers and Technicians.
Build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, communicating effectively.
Solve complex technical and logistical problems.
Co-ordinate S278 works with other design disciplines (e.g. signals, structural, street lighting).
Manage engineers as project managers to ensure delivery under internal processes, standards and health & safety.
Prepare reports for the Service Manager or Head of EDS.
Manage conflicting priorities in local authority infrastructure delivery.
Operate in a matrix working environment.
