Job summary

Warwickshire County Council is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the S278 Highways Team within Engineering Design Services to deliver developer-funded highway schemes that make a real difference to local communities.

From new link roads and junction upgrades to cycling and active travel projects, you'll play a key role in improving road safety, reducing congestion and enhancing connectivity across the county.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a civil engineering team on highway projects.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

• direct and manage a team of Engineers and Technicians
• build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and communicate effectively
• solve complex technical and logistical problems
• undertake programmes of S278 works and coordinate with other design disciplines
• manage Engineers in the role of project manager to ensure projects are delivered to standards and legal requirements
• manage and be responsible for the calculation of fee proposals for S278 works and discuss with Developers
• provide project management of work packages let to consultants through the professional services framework
• prepare reports for the Service Manager or Head of EDS
• manage conflicting priorities and demands associated with local authority infrastructure delivery
• remain composed in difficult circumstances and exercise sound judgement
• operate in a matrix working environment
