Job summary

First People Solutions is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer in Manchester to lead major civil projects and guide design teams across a range of sectors. You will set technical direction, manage resources, and ensure delivery to cost, programme and quality targets.

The role offers hybrid/flexible working, exposure to projects in nuclear, defence, rail, highways and life sciences, and opportunities for professional development within a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Chartered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Proven track record of delivering projects and leading design teams
• Strong knowledge of current civil design codes and standards
• Experience across drainage, earthworks, highways and external works

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering project teams and oversee multiple smaller teams
• Provide technical direction and ensure designs meet required standards
• Work across disciplines including earthworks, drainage, highways and external works
• Ensure compliance with CDM, health & safety and internal quality procedures
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and other disciplines to deliver projects
• Support business improvements and implement changes across projects
