Position: Lead Civil Engineer

As a Lead Civil Engineer, you will provide engineering technical direction to discipline engineers in our water division projects. You will support design for various non-infrastructure schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and compliant with current legislation and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Review drawings and models for quality, safety, and adherence to technical standards.
  2. Review project and construction site designs.
  3. Lead efficient project delivery, managing programme, budget, and risks.
  4. Ensure design quality and compliance with standards and regulations, providing technical expertise for interdisciplinary studies.
  5. Contribute to work winning through bid management, tendering, and proposal preparation.
  6. Manage resource planning and team management.
  7. Oversee quality through BIM360 workflow reviews.
  8. Promote sustainability and low-carbon designs.
  9. Ensure compliance with water industry and civil standards and regulations.
  10. Develop designer alerts for lessons learned.
  11. Seek innovative technologies and processes.
  12. Collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  13. Support wider water business activities (e.g., HAZOP, ROV facilitation, peer reviews, incident response).
  14. Conduct site visits as needed.
  15. Mentor and develop team members.
  16. Provide technical guidance to engineers.
  17. Share lessons learned and technical updates with the team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Extensive UK Water sector experience.
  • Proven leadership and team inspiration skills.
  • Strong client management and exceeding expectations.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Experience in strategic project planning and execution.
  • Skills in tender analysis, market conditions, and operations.
  • Knowledge of communications and PR techniques.
  • Ability to deliver professional presentations.
  • Effective communication with government officials and clients.
  • Chartered status preferred.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience demonstrating relevant knowledge.
  • Practical civil design experience in water/wastewater industry.

Excellent presentation skills for client interactions, conferences, and promotional events.

Location:

Regional with offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and London.
