Job summary

Binnies, part of the RSK Group, is expanding its UK Water Services capability and seeks a Chartered Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and head the Birmingham-based civil engineering team.

The role blends expert technical authority with mentoring, delivering sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure across the UK, while developing engineers in a collaborative design environment.

Qualifications

• Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent, working towards chartership.
• Proven experience delivering outline and detailed design in the water or wastewater sector.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary and remote resources.
• Strong technical judgement and clear, pragmatic communication.
• Mentoring and developing engineers.

Responsibilities

• Act as the civil engineering subject matter expert across multiple projects.
• Lead and review complex designs, calculations, reports, and specifications.
• Provide technical assurance and problem-solving support to project teams.
• Be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries.
• Support the development and application of standards, tools, and best practice.
• Mentor and develop graduate, junior, and apprentice engineers.
• Contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients.
• Support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision‑making.
