Job summary

Leeds City Council is seeking a Social Work Team Manager for the Children Looked After Service. You will lead a professional team to deliver high-quality care to looked-after children, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and safeguarding standards.

You will drive service improvements, supervise staff, and build strong partnerships with families, carers, and partner agencies to improve outcomes for children in care.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
• Ability to build strong links with families, carers and partners.
• Motivate staff and promote council values and direction.

Responsibilities

• Direct, manage and motivate a social work team, supervise caseloads and ensure statutory timescales are met.
• Lead on safeguarding, Safer recruitment, and court process adherence.
• Provide reflective supervision and development opportunities for staff.
• Manage budgets and resources within council procedures.
• Promote partnership working with Police, health, education and other agencies.
• Ensure team plans are aligned with service goals and CYPSC/Service Improvement Plans.
