Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Consultant in General and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Medicine to lead and develop adult critical care services at the Glenfield site. The post supports both general and cardiothoracic ICU management with involvement in teaching, audit and service development.

The successful candidate will hold specialist registration for intensive care medicine (CCT or CESR) or be dual trained, and participate in multidisciplinary rounds,

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold Specialist Register for Intensive Care Medicine via CCT or CESR route, or be dual trained.

Responsibilities

• Provide daytime and on-call 1:18 consultant cover for the Intensive Care Unit at the Glenfield site, currently with 26 level 3 beds (flexible to 32).
• Maintain highest clinical standards in managing adult ICU patients.
• Supervise and train junior ICU medical and nursing staff and allied health professionals.
• Participate in teaching, audit, research and CPD activities as required.
• Contribute to development of the Adult Critical Care Service with colleagues at UHL.
• Engage with Clinical Governance, patient safety initiatives and departmental teaching programmes.
