Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust invites applications for a Consultant in General and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Medicine. The post supports adults in ICU, with single or dual trained intensivists.

Applicants should be on specialist register for Intensive Care Medicine via CCT or CESR, or dual trained; interview within six months of expected CCT date. The role involves daytime and on-call coverage, supervising junior staff, teaching, audit and research, and contributing to service

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent medical degree and GMC registration.
• Full GMC Registration and eligibility for GMC specialist register.
• FFICM or equivalent and advanced ICM training completed.
• MD or equivalent and membership of relevant societies.
• Demonstrated teaching, supervision and research activity.
• Ability to lead in a multidisciplinary critical care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide daytime and on-call consultant cover for the ICU (Glenfield site).
• Supervise and train junior medical and nursing staff; audit and teaching.
• Participate in departmental governance, CPD, and quality improvement.
• Contribute to service development of Adult Critical Care with colleagues.
• Involvement in TOE/TOE/critical care ultrasound teaching and programmes.
