Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a Principal Building Control Surveyor to lead the Building Control Team in Hereford. You will head up surveyors and support staff, delivering regulatory inspections, pre-application advice, and enforcement with a proactive approach.

The role requires knowledge of building control, legislation, and the ability to work independently and under deadlines, while collaborating with IT and other council services.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the role of a registered building inspector and building safety regulator.
• Demonstrable experience and knowledge in building control.

Responsibilities

• Head up an existing team of Building Control Surveyors and Support Officers.
• Provide building control services at a operational level and manage administrative duties.
• Deputise for the Building Control Manager when required.
• Engage with internal/external customers on applications, inspections, charges and enforcement.
