Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a Principal Building Control Surveyor to lead a team of Building Control Surveyors from Plough Lane, Hereford. The role includes day-to-day management, regulatory compliance, and deputising for the Building Control Manager as required.

You will deal with applications, inspections and enforcement across building control, ensuring up-to-date records and reports while supporting IT systems and data management.

Qualifications

• Registered building inspector with RBI 3 and strong knowledge of building control regulations.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team to tight deadlines and multiple work streams.
• Experience with building safety regulator requirements and current legislation.

Responsibilities

• Head up an existing team of Building Control Surveyors and Technical Support Officers.
• Oversee day-to-day building control activities and department administration; deputise for the manager as needed.
• Handle applications, site inspections, pre-application advice, enforcement inquiries and data reporting.
