Herefordshire Council is seeking a Principal Building Control Surveyor to lead the Building Control team in Hereford. The role involves managing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with building regulations, and deputising for the manager as needed.

You will work with internal and external clients on applications, inspections, levies and enforcement, while maintaining accurate IT records and reporting. A strong background in building control and regulatory regimes is essential.

Qualifications

• Understanding the role of a registered building inspector and the requirements of the building safety regulator.
• Strong knowledge of building control, regulatory issues and current legislation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often under tight deadlines and on multiple work streams.

Responsabilités

• Head up an existing team of Building Control Surveyors and Technical Support Officers to provide the service at an operational level.
• Deputise for the Building Control Manager as required.
• Handle internally and externally facing duties: applications, site inspections, levies, pre-application advice, enforcement inquiries and data reporting.
