Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Band 7 Biomedical Scientist – Expert Scientist Dissector. You will be HCPC registered, with extensive experience in Cellular Pathology and working toward the IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection.

The role is based in the cutup area, supporting consultants and trainees, developing protocols, coordinating dissection, training staff, and maintaining high scientific standards.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
• DEP in Histological Dissection or actively working towards it.
• Leader and Management Qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day workload and flow within dissection.
• Achieve and maintain competency in dissection of A–C specimens.
• Complete daily dissection workload.
• Train and develop BMSs in histological dissection.
• Write/review SOPs and audits; manage CAPA/DATIX where needed.
• Initiate process improvements in the dissection area.
