This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified BMS for the role of Expert Scientist Dissector. You will be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, with extensive experience in Cellular Pathology with a membership or Fellowship with the IBMS. You will have completed or be working towards the IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection.
The role of an Expert Scientist dissector will predominantly be based within cutup, supporting the service, along side our Consultant Histopathologists and Specialist Trainees. Completing dissection of a range of Histopathology sub-specialties and achieving/maintaining competency in the dissection of category A, B and C specimens.
You will develop agreed protocols and policies and co-ordinate their implementation in the specimen reception and dissection area.
You will play a key role in service development for the dissection area, striving for and maintaining best practise. In liaison with the senior BMS team, the post holder will ensure a timely workflow and assist in maintaining high scientific and technical standards.
You will be active in the training of BMS team members learning dissection both at in-house level and DEP level.
To qualify for this role candidates must hold the DEP in dissection. However, candidates will also be considered if they are currently working towards this qualification.
