Job summary

Diagnexia is seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist in a leadership role for a digitally driven histopathology laboratory in Oxfordshire. You will lead the Routine section, oversee operations, mentor staff and participate in recruitment while ensuring compliance with UKAS, ISO 15189, and UK safety standards.

The role requires HCPC registration, a higher specialist diploma or a masters, and at least four years post-registration experience in a UKAS accredited histopathology lab.

Qualifications

• Must be HCPC registered as Biomedical Scientist (mandatory).
• IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or Masters Degree (mandatory).
• Minimum 4 years post-registration in a UKAS accredited Histopathology Laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Routine section, ensuring high-quality service meeting clinical needs and regulatory standards.
• Oversee technical and scientific operations, providing specialist advice.
• Rotate across dissection, IHC and Specials; supervise junior staff and recruitment.
• Maintain SOPs, competency documents, staff training and CPD.
• Support the quality management system and UKAS compliance, audits.
• Develop and validate laboratory methods per ISO 15189:2022.
• Lead R&D and digitisation projects; manage safety, privacy and documentation.
