Job summary

Medica is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to lead our Pathology team at the Runcorn hub. You will manage a small but dedicated team, drive operational excellence, and collaborate across departments to exceed client expectations in both digital and glass pathology.

This hands-on leadership role requires HCPC registration, a completed Specialist BMS portfolio, histology experience, and strong mentoring abilities. Hybrid working and ongoing professional development are supported.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is essential.
• BMS portfolio completed is essential.
• Experience in Histology and specimen selection is required.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills are needed.
• Wet-lab experience and digital pathology knowledge are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lab operations including specimen reception, scanning, and quality control.
• Lead and mentor a team of Digital Pathology Assistants.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards (15189, 27001, 9001).
• Troubleshoot lab issues and manage client queries.
• Contribute to projects including AI integration and wet-lab expansion.
