Job summary

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist (BMS) in Biochemistry to lead a specialist team and oversee core laboratory operations. You will manage daily Biochemistry analysers, quality control, and staff, while ensuring high standards of patient care across the service.

The role requires HCPC registration with a Biomedical Science degree and IBMS qualifications, plus experience in quality management and staff mentoring.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist.
• Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent.
• Post registration IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent.
• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent (IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or MSc).
• Evidence of CPD.

Responsibilities

• Manage the performance of manual, semi-automated, specialist and fully automated investigations.
• Day-to-day management of stock control and usage.
• Manage QC procedures and QC material.
• Implement policies for service improvement.
• Ensure validation of highly specialised test results.
• Maintain equipment and safe work environment.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and participate in R&D and equipment testing.
