Job summary

Aviva plc in Norwich is seeking a Lead BI Engineer to drive the development and modernization of our Personal Lines data platform. You will combine hands-on data engineering with team leadership, shaping data products and supporting decision‑making across the business.

The role focuses on moving from legacy systems to a cloud-based ecosystem, coordinating engineers, analysts and stakeholders, and raising engineering standards through collaborative, Agile delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong experience using Snowflake, dbt and SQL to build and enhance data transformation pipelines and data models.
• Experience leading technical delivery, setting engineering standards and supporting teams to solve complex challenges.
• Previous people leadership experience, including coaching, development conversations and performance reviews.
• Ability to work closely with stakeholders and translate business requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Experience working in Agile environments. Scrum Master, Azure DevOps, Jira or wider BI platform migration experience would be beneficial.

• Lead the development and enhancement of our modern data transformation platform, ensuring data is reliable, scalable and ready for future growth.
• Coordinate engineering delivery, support and develop a talented team, and help drive our move from legacy platforms to a cloud-based data ecosystem.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to ensure data products meet business needs and deliver real value.
• Shape engineering standards, ways of working and continuous improvement across the team.
