Job summary

Coherence Neuro in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Automation/Test Development Engineer to lead the development of custom test systems for the SOMA program. You will oversee architecture, hardware, software and documentation of scalable test platforms for engineering characterization, design verification and future manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Biomedical engineering or related field.
• 4+ years designing automated test systems or lab instrumentation.
• Experience in designing and commissioning custom test hardware.
• Experience automating lab equipment with Python or LabVIEW.
• Experience with PCB design, interface electronics and cabling.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting across hardware and software.
• Ability to translate questions into reliable test methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and deployment of custom automated test systems.
• Translate requirements into test methods, fixtures, and software outputs.
• Design and integrate electronics, PCBs, sensors, cabling and lab equipment.
• Develop software for instrument control, data acquisition and reporting.
• Improve repeatability, throughput, traceability and scalability.
• Define tester accuracy, calibration and system performance.
• Produce documentation to rebuild and operate systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality and preclinical teams.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, software and instrument issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and support transfer to manufacturing.
