Job summary

DS Smith Europe is seeking a Lead Accountant for our Caerphilly-based DS Smith Business Services Centre. You will lead month-end reporting, balance sheet integrity and governance across entities, while developing a small accounting team to ensure high-performance service delivery.

The role demands up-to-date accounting knowledge, ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualification or equivalent, and a track record of delivering timely financial information in a shared services environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with up-to-date accounting standards knowledge.
• Leadership experience in a finance team or shared service environment.
• Proven delivery of accounting, reporting and month-end close activities.
• Experience mentoring or managing a team and developing others.
• ERP systems experience including SAP or QAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close across entities, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and governance.
• Own balance sheet integrity, reviewing reconciliations and control environments.
• Support year-end activities and liaise with auditors.
• Partner with P2P and C&C teams to optimise end-to-end processes.
• Develop and coach a small accounting team to deliver high performance.
