Job summary

DS Smith is seeking a Lead Accountant at its Caerphilly-based Business Services Centre. You will lead month-end reporting, strengthen financial controls, and manage a small team while supporting audits and governance across entities.

You will collaborate with P2P and C&C teams to drive process improvements, ensure statutory compliance, and deliver high quality management reporting in a fast-paced shared services environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with accounting standards and their application.
• Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent required.
• Proven leadership experience and ability to manage a small team.
• Strong track record delivering accounting, reporting and month-end close activities.
• Experience using ERP systems (SAP, QAD or similar).

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close across designated entities.
• Own the balance sheet and ensure accuracy and governance.
• Coach and develop a small accounting team.
• Support internal and external audits and compliance.
• Partner with P2P/C&C teams to optimise end-to-end processes.
