Job summary

JLA Limited are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join a busy, customer-facing team in Milton Keynes. You will visit varied premises, repair and service catering and laundry equipment, and ensure safety and quality on every site.

DBS checks are regularly carried out; you will work independently, manage stock and reports, and contribute to the growth of the business by identifying sales leads and opportunities.

Qualifications

• Repair and service catering and laundry equipment.
• Good knowledge of electrical, plumbing and mechanical work.
• Proficient level of computer skills.
• Excellent English written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair equipment as directed by Operations Support.
• Carry out safe repairs to customer and company satisfaction; aim to fix root cause.
• Identify and submit engineer leads for upgrades and other sales opportunities.
• Clean equipment and site after completion, leaving site tidy.
• Provide reports on work and arrival/departure; obtain customer signature where required.
• Support best practice processes and tools to maximise efficiency.
• Maintain technical updates and releases as required.
• Manage tooling, van stocks and job parts; receipting or returning as needed.
• Support growth by submitting lead opportunities.

Role overview

The role of a Field Service Engineer plays a key part in a busy, energetic, customer facing team, which is crucial to the business and its on‑going successes.

Engineers visit a variety of customer premises; from care homes to hotels, restaurants, schools, government buildings and corporate clients. As such, Engineers are field-based and DBS checks are regularly carried out.

Key tasks

• Maintain and repair equipment as and when directed by the Operations Support team
• Carry out comprehensive, competent, and safe repairs to customer and Company satisfaction, aiming to fix the cause of the fault not just the fault itself
• Proactively work towards the growth of the company by identifying and submitting engineer leads for upgrades and other potential sales business
• Clean equipment and the immediate vicinity of the machine after completion of site work, leaving the site clean and tidy
• Complete and provide reports in relation to work and equipment as required, including reporting your arrival and departure from each call and obtaining customer signature where required
• Drive the implementation of engineering best practice processes, procedures and tools that maximise effectiveness and efficiency
• Maintain technical and system updates and releases as required
• Manage tooling and van stocks as well as job part orders appropriately by receipting, consuming or returning for each job
• Support growth generation by submitting lead opportunities

Service Delivery

• Demonstrate an understanding of what service delivery excellence is for your role
• Ensuring you set a culture of excellent customer service ensuring the basics are right every time and lead a team where service is central to good performance
• Work collaboratively with teams in Operations to ensure that sales and service SLAs are delivered

Managing Health & Safety

• Ensuring you deliver your role within the Compliance framework set.
