Job summary

Serencroft Care Homes is seeking a Laundry Assistant at Woodlands Care Home in Stockport. The role covers daily laundering, washing, drying and ironing of residents' clothing and home linen, with an emphasis on hygiene and safety within a supportive care home setting.

The position is permanent, part-time (30 hours per week) with a pay rate of £12.92 per hour. DBS check and Right to work in the UK are required, and training will be provided within a values-led multi-site group.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in laundry, housekeeping or domestic roles is desirable but not required.
• Ability to follow infection control procedures and COSHH guidelines.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Wash, dry, iron and fold residents' clothing and home linen to a high standard.
• Sort and label laundry to ensure items are returned correctly.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures for soiled laundry.

Serencroft Care Homes is an independent care provider operating five residential and nursing homes across England, including Woodlands in Stockport. We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Laundry Assistant to help keep residents' clothing and the home's linen clean, safe and well-managed for the residents and staff who call Woodlands home.

Role Overview

As our Laundry Assistant, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day laundering of residents' clothing and the home's linen at Woodlands. You'll carry out washing, drying, ironing and sorting duties, follow infection prevention and control procedures, and help ensure the home meets health and safety standards — playing an important behind-the-scenes role in the comfort and wellbeing of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash, dry, iron and fold residents' clothing and the home's linen to a high standard
• Sort and label laundry correctly to ensure residents' personal items are returned to the right rooms
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures when handling soiled or contaminated laundry
• Operate laundry equipment safely and report any faults or maintenance issues promptly
• Maintain accurate laundry records and stocktake linen supplies
• Ensure laundry chemicals are used and stored safely in line with COSHH guidelines
• Support care staff by ensuring residents have clean clothing and linen available when needed
• Keep the laundry room clean, tidy and organised at all times
• Assist with the appropriate disposal of waste in line with home policy

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping or domestic role is desirable but not essential
• A methodical approach with good attention to detail and hygiene awareness
• Right to work in the UK
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
• Good communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude
• Experience within a care home, healthcare or similarly regulated environment is desirable.
• Understanding of infection prevention and control practices is an advantage but not essential.
