Job summary

Serencroft Care Homes is seeking a reliable Laundry Assistant for Woodlands Care Home in Stockport. The role covers daily laundering of residents' clothing and home linen, including washing, drying, ironing and sorting to high standards.

The post is part-time (30 hours per week) with permanent contract. DBS check and right to work in the UK are required, and COSHH safety rules must be followed to ensure hygiene and safety across the home.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping or domestic role is desirable but not essential.
• A methodical approach with good attention to detail and hygiene awareness.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
• Good communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude.
• Experience within a care home, healthcare or similarly regulated environment is desirable.
• Understanding of infection prevention and control practices is an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Wash, dry, iron and fold residents' clothing and the home's linen to a high standard
• Sort and label laundry correctly to ensure residents' personal items are returned to the right rooms
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures when handling soiled or contaminated laundry
• Operate laundry equipment safely and report any faults or maintenance issues promptly
• Maintain accurate laundry records and stocktake linen supplies
• Ensure laundry chemicals are used and stored safely in line with COSHH guidelines
• Support care staff by ensuring residents have clean clothing and linen available when needed
• Keep the laundry room clean, tidy and organised at all times
• Assist with the appropriate disposal of waste in line with home policy

We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Laundry Assistant to help keep residents' clothing and the home's linen clean, safe and well-managed for the residents and staff who call Woodlands home.

Role Overview

As our Laundry Assistant, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day laundering of residents' clothing and the home's linen at Woodlands. You'll carry out washing, drying, ironing and sorting duties, follow infection prevention and control procedures, and help ensure the home meets health and safety standards — playing an important behind-the-scenes role in the comfort and wellbeing of our residents.
