Job summary

Steelway Brickhouse is looking for an experienced operator of CNC laser cutting machines in West Bromwich. The role involves setting and operating Bodor and Trumpf machines to produce precision-engineered components.

Steelway Brickhouse are a leading steel fabrication company specialising in Metalwork and secondary steelwork. Steelway Brickhouse, based in West Bromwich, is a key division of the business, producing precision-engineered access covers and frames for use across the Water, Sewer, Telecommunications, Power, Rail, Domestic, Industrial, and Commercial markets - in mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.

About the Role

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous experience setting and operating laser cutting machines.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate Bodor and Trumpf CNC laser cutting machines to produce components to customer specifications.
• Prepare machines for production, including loading materials, selecting the correct programmes, tooling and machine settings.
• Read and work from engineering drawings, job sheets and production specifications.
• Load and select the correct CNC programmes and make basic adjustments to cutting parameters and machine settings where required.
• Inspect finished components using basic measuring equipment to ensure they meet drawing and specification requirements.

Key Skills & Experience

• Previous experience setting and operating CNC laser cutting machines is essential.
• Bodor and/or Trumpf laser experience is diserable.
• Ability to read and interpet engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience working with different material types and thicknesses within a sheet metal or fabrication environment.
• Previous experience working with CNC machinery, press brakes, guillotines or other sheet metal machinery would be advantageous.
