Job summary

Addysg Oedolion Cymru I Adult Learning Wales is seeking a Language Development Assistant to support language development in the Foundation Phase across Flintshire schools. The role is part-time (27.5 hours per week), term-time only, with a fixed term ending March 2027.

You will work with schools, officers and parents to improve language outcomes for both monolingual and bilingual pupils, including refugees and other EAL learners, while respecting diverse languages, cultures and religions.

Qualifications

• Support language development for Foundation Phase pupils, including English as an Additional Language (EAL).
• Model appropriate language patterns and use effective strategies to improve outcomes for monolingual and bilingual pupils.
• Show empathy and respect for pupils’ language, culture and religion.

Responsibilities

• Assist in curriculum access and language-focused activities across schools.
• Collaborate with schools, officers and parents to enhance language skills of pupils.
• Promote inclusive language learning and support refugees and other EAL learners.
