System Recruitment Limited is seeking a Laboratory Technician Industrial Chemicals in Oldbury. The role reports to the Production Manager and covers testing, quality control, regulatory duties and product development, with scope to assist production when required.

The ideal candidate holds a science degree (Chemistry preferred) and may have some commercial lab experience. This permanent position is suitable for candidates within commuting distance of Oldbury, near Birmingham.

Qualifications

• Degree in a science discipline, ideally Chemistry.
• Some commercial laboratory experience preferred but not essential.
• Permanent position located in Oldbury, within commutable distance.

Responsibilities

• Testing, quality control, regulatory and product development; assist production processes.
• Work on own initiative and escalate issues to Production Manager Oldbury.
• Collaborate with Production to ensure timely despatch of on-spec deliveries.
• Support sales by developing solutions in response to customer demands.
• Identify and report any product or equipment faults.
• Maintain stock of reagents and consumables for laboratory use.
• Keep Bills of Material up to date including operating instructions.
• Develop and maintain Technical Data sheets and MSDS.
• Investigate causes of quality non-conformances and assist preventive actions.

A well established and successful global manufacturing group in the industrial chemicals sector require a Laboratory Technician Industrial Chemicals for a position in Oldbury, near Birmingham.

Reporting to the Production Manager you will be responsible for of all Quality Control, Testing, Regulatory and Development work.

You will be degree educated in a relevant science-based discipline (ideally Chemistry) and have some commercial experience in a laboratory setting, although prior experience is not essential.

Main Tasks:

• Be responsible for testing, quality control, regulatory and product development and assisting with production processes when required.
• Work on own initiative and escalate issues to Production Manager Oldbury as appropriate
• Work closely with Production to ensure timely despatch of on spec deliveries.
• To support the sales team in business development by developing solutions in response to customer demands.
• Identify and report any product or equipment faults.
• Maintain good stock of reagents and consumables needed for laboratory use.
• Keep all Bills of Material up to date including operating instructions.
• To develop and maintain Technical Data sheets, Material Safety Data Sheets.
• To investigate the cause of any quality related non-conformances and assist in the implementation of agreed preventive measures.

The role will suit individuals currently working as Laboratory Technician Industrial Chemicals Lab Technician, Lab Tech, Laboratory Assistant and be living within a commutable distance of Oldbury, Birmingham, West Midlands, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Bridgnorth, or be willing to relocate.
