Job summary

Experis is seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our Stevenage team onsite. The role focuses on supporting the chemistry R&D group with membrane fabrication, materials analysis, and routine lab testing.

You will work with cross-disciplinary scientists, maintain safety standards, manage inventory, and document results. A Bachelor's in a scientific discipline with lab experience or Science A-levels with several years in lab work are acceptable; MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with at least 3 months lab experience.
• Alternatively, Science A-levels with at least 2 years lab experience.
• Knowledge of organic chemistry or membrane fabrication techniques.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and oral communication, teamwork and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support activities including membrane fabrication and materials analysis with chemists, materials scientists, engineers and biologists.
• Perform chemical modification of Fibro membranes for R&D and production.
• Conduct routine and one-off lab tests such as Raman spectroscopy, DSC, SEM, FT-IR, BET and weight testing.
• Maintain good housekeeping and follow Laboratory Health and Safety standards.
• Lab inventory management and coordinating deliveries between sites.
• Document and dispose of laboratory waste; take detailed notes and communicate results clearly.

Laboratory Technician - Chemistry

£16.00 per hour
12 Month Contract

Our client is searching for a Chemistry Technician to join their team in Stevenage! We are looking for an organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and disciplined Laboratory Technician (Chemistry R&D) to work with our dynamic chemistry team with employees across the world.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with chemists, materials scientists, engineers and biologists to support activities including membrane fabrication and materials analysis.
• Perform chemical modification of Fibro membranes supporting R&D and production.
• Perform both routine and one-off laboratory testing such as Raman Spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, SEM, FT-IR, BET and dry weight testing.
• Support good housekeeping practices and adhering to Laboratory Health and Safety standards
• Lab management support, including order, restock and maintain inventory of chemicals and consumables and arrange deliveries between sites.
• Document and arrange safe disposal of all laboratory waste
• Take detailed lab notes, documenting and clearly communicating results with the team.

Experience / Skills Required:

• Either Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with minimum of 3 months laboratory experience, or Science A-levels (or equivalent) with minimum 2 years laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of organic chemistry and/or membrane fabrication techniques.
• Experience in one or more of the analytical methods listed above would also be an advantage, but on the job training will be provided.
• Proficiency in MS Office Applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Teamworking ability, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, able to multi-task efficiently.
