Job summary

Thrive Group in Frome, a busy FMCG manufacturing site, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team. You will perform tests in Chemistry and Microbiology and support a fast-paced production environment. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will manage environmental swabs, sample retesting, and lab stock control.

The role offers a full-time position, 37.3 hours, and a competitive benefits package. Experience in a food or beverage lab and familiarity with LIMS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Carry out environmental and plant hygiene swabs and media preparation.
• Determine and act on non-conforming results with re-sampling and re-testing.
• Decide when and how samples need to be retested.
• Process requests for product release by email/telephone.
• Collate all out of spec results on the daily exception report.

Thrive Group are delighted to be working with our highly successful manufacturing company inFrome, who are actively seeking to recruit aLaboratory Technicianto join the team.

What you will be doing:

• Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, and supporting a busy FMCG production. You will carry out all tests within both labs (Chemistry and Microbiology).

What you will need to succeed:

• Carry out environmental and plant hygiene swabs and all all media preparation.
• Able to determine and act on non-complying results by communicating information and following up with re-sampling and re-testing.
• Be able to decide when & how samples need to be retested.
• Process requests for product release by email/telephone.
• Collate all out of spec results on the daily exception report and circulate to the designated list.
• Ensure that lab consumables stock is rotated correctly, conduct weekly stock-takes and notify the lab team leader when there is a need to order more stock.
• Previous working experience in chemistry or micro laboratory, ideally in Food or Beverage industry.
• Competent with lab data bases LIMs.
• Good communication skills with colleagues and all levels of management.
• Demonstrate ability to work under pressure, assess workload and breaks to ensure all the testing required is carried in a timely manner.
