Job summary

Kinetic plc in Southampton invites applications for a Laboratory Technician (Chemistry) to join a field service team supporting a major customer in a crude oil refinery context. You will perform sampling, analysis and reporting to optimise chemical injection systems and overall process performance.

The role requires a Chemistry/Science qualification or equivalent, practical laboratory/analytical experience, and strong analytical and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor dosage rates and inventory.
• Troubleshoot systems and take corrective action.
• Interpret results and provide recommendations to improve performance.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Work safely within a refinery environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess chemical injection systems for reliability and performance.
• Sample and analyse crude oil, water and process streams.
• Use Hach testing equipment, including spectrophotometers, pH meters and TDS meters.
• Undertake basic Ion Chromatography (IC) analysis.
• Monitor chemical dosage rates and inventory.
• Troubleshoot systems and take corrective action where required.
• Interpret results and provide recommendations to improve performance.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Work safely and professionally within a refinery environment.

Qualifications

• A Chemistry/Science qualification, technical diploma or equivalent experience.
• Previous laboratory, analytical or industrial chemistry experience.
• Experience with sampling and analysis of water or process streams.
• Experience using laboratory/field testing equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and customer-facing skills.
• Good IT skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
