Job summary

Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking a Laboratory Technician for a refinery site in Southampton. You will perform routine and non-routine analyses on product and in-process samples, calibrate and maintain instruments, and prepare reagents while generating accurate data per SOPs.

You will also contribute to environmental monitoring and compliance with safety standards, supporting lab supervisors and chemists in a dynamic operations environment.

Qualifications

• Polytechnic graduate with Chemical/Process/Engineering background.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with quality control systems.
• Knowledge of environmental water analysis and GC-MS/AA testing.
• Ability to calibrate and maintain analytical instruments.

Responsibilities

• Assist lab supervisors and chemists with routine and non-routine analysis on product and in-process samples.
• Calibrate and maintain test equipment and prepare stock solutions and reagents.
• Generate accurate data in line with standard operating procedures.
• Support environmental monitoring and compliance with safety standards.

Benefits:

• Competitive pay: £18.10 - £22.35 per hour (PAYE) or £23.86 - £28.79 per hour (Umbrella).
• Inside IR35 contract for 12 months, with potential extension.
• Full-time hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday.

Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team at a leading refinery site in Southampton. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise will directly support plant operations and quality assurance processes.

As a Laboratory Technician, you will assist lab supervisors and chemists by performing routine and non-routine laboratory analysis on product and in-process samples. Your role will include calibration and maintenance of test equipment, preparation of chemical stock solutions and reagents, and ensuring accurate data generation in line with standard operating procedures. You will also contribute to environmental monitoring and analysis, supporting compliance and safety standards.

Essential Requirements:

• Polytechnic graduate with a background in Chemical, Process, or Technical Engineering.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with quality control systems.
