Job summary

Contechs Consulting seeks a Senior Technician - Analytical Science for a 12-month contract based in Reading. The role involves performing routine analyses to meet customer contracts and reporting results under quality standards. Training in GC/GC-MS, LC-MS and Wet Chemistry may be provided, with cross-site work as required.

The candidate will operate a range of analytical techniques, ensure data integrity, and maintain safety and GMP/UKAS awareness in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree or HNC level in a relevant science discipline.
• Equivalent relevant laboratory experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality customer service by organising workload and ensuring data integrity.
• Perform routine analyses under supervision using specified techniques.
• Adhere to validation protocols and operate basic lab equipment as directed.
• Proficiently use LIMS, ELN, Q-Pulse and software like OpenLab and Chromeleon.
• Train colleagues in routine activities and methods; perform lab admin as needed.

Senior Technician - Analytical Science

12 Month Contract

Based in Reading

• Our Client are customer focused, science led and results driven.
• Our Clients' Food Sciences laboratory performs a wide range of analytical analyses for a variety of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and supports the Company's research and innovation.
• The role at Senior Technician is to be responsible for performing a range of routine analyses ensuring that projects are completed effectively and meet the customer's contractual agreements.
• Schedule and perform chemical analysis and report work in accordance with the quality standards.
• This role focuses on the analysis of products using techniques such as HPLC and IC and may also include training in GC, GC-MS, GC-FID, LC-MS and Wet Chemistry methods.
• The position will be primarily based at the Reading location although may require attendance of any of the Clients' sites.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Technical

• Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
• Perform a range of routine analysis using (enter name of techniques) under supervision of a senior member of staff.
• To perform analytical work following validation protocols.
• Operate basic lab equipment as directed.
• Be proficient in the use of generic software packages including Laboratory's LIMS system, ELN and Q-Pulse and a range of specific software packages required for the role such as OpenLab, Chromeleon, Chemstation, MassHunter and MassLynx.
• Provide training in routine activities and methods.
• Perform Lab admin and housekeeping duties as directed.
• Will be expected to cross train and work in different laboratories if the demand is required.

QEHS

• Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.
• To complete assigned quality actions in a timely manner
• Assist with the documentation of SOPs for simple equipment and tests and generation of Risk Assessments and COSHH
• To maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
• To understand and work to the requirements of GMP and UKAS.
• Ensure training records are accurate.

Knowledge

• Educated to Degree / HNC level in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a laboratory.
• Good understanding of basic lab equipment

Experience

• Scientific understanding and ability to conduct chemical analysis in relevant area under supervision
• Experience of working in a regulated environment
