Job summary

I & F Limited (T/A Skills4Group) in Bolton is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join the team. Earn while you learn, training towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship and gaining hands-on experience in a real lab.

You will support testing, sample preparation, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace with guidance and supervision. No prior lab experience required, commitment to learning is essential.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths, English and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9.
• Helpful to have GCSEs but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and develop practical laboratory skills.

Bolton, BL1 2NP - We are looking for a motivated and practical Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join our laboratory team. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn, developing hands‑on laboratory skills while working towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.

Qualifications Required

GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.

Personal Qualities

• Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule
• Writing and numeracy skills
• Familiarity with computers / keyboards / typing skills
• Word, Excel, Access – statistics, graphs, data analysis
• General awareness of importance of safety, and in particular safety issues of working in a laboratory.

If you have practical ability, ability to solve problems and good communication skills there are opportunities for progression towards higher qualifications.

About the role

As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will support the day‑to‑day work of the laboratory, assisting with testing, preparing samples and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will be trained and supported throughout the apprenticeship.

Key duties

• Assisting with laboratory tests and experiments under supervision
• Preparing samples, materials and equipment for testing
• Accurately recording results and maintaining laboratory records
• Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment
• Following health & safety procedures and quality standards
