Job summary

Skills 4 Pharmacy in Bolton is seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician Apprentice to support daily laboratory duties. You will assist with tests, prepare samples and keep records, while receiving training and guidance throughout the apprenticeship.

GCSEs in Maths/Science are desirable, and you will develop practical laboratory skills, data handling ability and computer literacy. A commitment to safety and teamwork will help you progress toward higher qualifications.

Qualifications

• Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule
• Writing and numeracy skills
• Familiarity with computers / keyboards / typing skills
• Word, Excel, Access - statistics, graphs, data analysis
• General awareness of safety, and in particular safety issues of working in a laboratory.

Job description

As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will support the day-to‑day work of the laboratory, assisting with testing, preparing samples and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will be trained and supported throughout the apprenticeship.

Key duties include:

• Assisting with laboratory tests and experiments under supervision
• Preparing samples, materials and equipment for testing
• Accurately recording results and maintaining laboratory records
• Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment
• Following health & safety procedures and quality standards
• Working as part of a team to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy
• An interest in science and laboratory work
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Basic IT skills
