Job summary

Finning is seeking a meticulous Laboratory Technician to perform analyses on oil, fuel, and coolant samples using a range of manual and automated techniques. The role focuses on sample preparation, data entry into LIMS, and contributing to SOP development under GLP standards.

The ideal candidate will have industrial lab experience or an HNC/HND in a scientific discipline, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative approach to work within a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses on oil, fuel, and coolant samples using wet chemistry, GC, FTIR, ICP-OES, XRF, KF, autotitrators and automation
• Prepare samples in batches following SOPs
• Investigate and implement laboratory process improvements as directed
• Enter data and results into LIMS accurately
• Write/review SOPs to GLP standards as required by the Supervisor

Description

Are you a meticulous and analytical professional with a passion for laboratory work? Join our team as a Laboratory Technician and contribute to our success by performing detailed analysis on oil, fuel, and coolant samples using a variety of manual and automated techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Sample Analysis: Perform analyses on batches of oil, fuel, and coolant samples using techniques such as wet chemistry, GC, FTIR, ICP-OES, XRF, KF, autotitrators, automated liquid handling equipment, and particle counters.
• Sample Preparation: Sort and prepare samples into batches, ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Process Improvement: Investigate and implement new laboratory process improvements as directed by the Analytical Services Supervisor.
• Data Management: Accurately enter sample data and results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Document Management: Write and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards as assigned by the Supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications

• Relevant industrial laboratory experience or qualified to at least HNC/HND level in a scientific discipline.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in various laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Deep understanding of GLP, COSHH & Laboratory H&S practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and adherence to SOPs.
• Strong people skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Good communication skills.
