Job summary

Finning International Inc. in Leeds, UK, seeks a Laboratory Technician for a 12-month fixed-term contract in a state-of-the-art laboratory. You will perform detailed analyses on oil, fuel and coolant samples using wet chemistry and automated techniques, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and SOP compliance.

You will prepare samples, manage data in the LIMS, and help implement process improvements while maintaining GLP and COSHH standards within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Relevant industrial laboratory experience or a qualification to at least HNC/HND in a scientific discipline.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and adherence to SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses on oil, fuel and coolant samples using wet chemistry, GC, FTIR, ICP-OES, XRF and KF.
• Prepare samples, ensure SOPs followed and batch accuracy in the LIMS.
• Contribute to process improvements and document management to GLP standards.

Job description

Based at our state-of-the-art UK laboratory in Leeds, our dedicated fluid and condition monitoring services team are experts in analysing, interpreting and providing detailed evaluations for oil, fuel, coolant, diesel exhaust fluid and transformer oil samples from all types of equipment. We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team, on a 12 month fixed term contract., Are you a meticulous and analytical professional with a passion for laboratory work? Join our team as a Laboratory Technician and contribute to our success by performing detailed analysis on oil, fuel, and coolant samples using a variety of manual and automated techniques.,

• Sample Analysis: Perform analyses on batches of oil, fuel, and coolant samples using techniques such as wet chemistry, GC, FTIR, ICP-OES, XRF, KF, autotitrators, automated liquid handling equipment, and particle counters.
• Sample Preparation: Sort and prepare samples into batches, ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Process Improvement: Investigate and implement new laboratory process improvements as directed by the Analytical Services Supervisor.
• Data Management: Accurately enter sample data and results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Document Management: Write and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards as assigned by the Supervisor.
  Relevant industrial laboratory experience or qualified to at least HNC/HND level in a scientific discipline.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in various laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Deep understanding of GLP, COSHH & Laboratory H&S practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and adherence to SOPs.
• Strong people skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Good communication skills.
