Job summary

SGS in Cambridge is seeking an entry-level Laboratory Technician for a 12-month temporary assignment. You will perform sample preparation and extraction under SGS SOPs, report equipment issues, and maintain auditable records.

No prior lab experience or degree required; ideal candidates have food-industry exposure, strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning. The role emphasizes safety and efficient daily tasks in a regulated laboratory environment.

Job Description

• Job Title:Laboratory Technician
• Job Type:Temporary 12 months
• Location:Cambridge
• Hours:Monday To Friday 9am to 5pm

This is an entry level position so we are not requiring anyprevious lab experience or degree.

Role overview:

• Perform sample preparation and extraction following SGS-approved SOPs.
• Report any equipment or instrumentation failures to senior staff.
• Maintain organized, auditable laboratory records.
• Complete daily tasks efficiently to support operational output.
• Maintain a safe working environment, following Health & Safety protocols

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would be from a food process driven background such as fast food restaurants or food manufacturing. This is an entry level position so we are not requiring anyprevious lab experience or degree.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
• Good organisational skills to maintain records and compliance.
• Proactive approach to learning and development.
