Job summary

SGS is seeking a Lab Stores Technician for our Ellesmere Port laboratory. You will be at the heart of the lab, ensuring smooth daily operations, handling samples and equipment, and maintaining stock levels in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong organisational skills, reliability, and the ability to work well within a team. A full UK driving licence is essential, and training will be provided for inventory and IT systems used in the lab.

Qualifications

• Organised and reliable with good attention to detail.
• Experience in warehouse, stores, production, or inventory environments is beneficial.
• Holding a full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage receipt, booking in, and storage of laboratory samples and equipment.
• Ensure items are tracked and easily locatable.
• Support lab by retrieving samples quickly and efficiently.
• Carry out stock checks and order consumables to maintain supply levels.
• Liaise with internal teams and customers regarding deliveries and queries.
• Assist with safe dispatch of samples, including Dangerous Goods where applicable.
• Dispose of petrochemical products after testing and uphold quality and safety standards.

We’re looking for a Lab Stores Technician to join our team in Ellesmere Port. This is a great opportunity for someone organised, proactive, and happy working in a fast‑paced environment supporting laboratory operations.

What you’ll be doing

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and enjoys keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. You might currently work in a warehouse, stores, production, manufacturing, logistics, retail, or customer service environment and be looking for a new challenge.

You'll be successful in this role if you:

• Enjoy working in a hands‑on, fast‑paced environment
• Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Can manage multiple tasks and priorities at the same time
• Are comfortable using IT systems and Microsoft Office
• Communicate confidently with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
• Work well as part of a team and are happy to support others
• Hold a full UK driving licence
