Job summary

Balmoral Comtec Limited is hiring a Laboratory Support Operator to prepare test samples, manage lab materials, and support trials in an offshore energy context. The role requires handling equipment and maintaining safety standards.

The position is on-site in Aberdeen, with responsibilities across testing, sampling, and routine maintenance. Flexibility to work shifts and multi-task will be valued.

Qualifications

• Good general education.
• O Grade/Standard Grade qualifications in Mathematics, English, Physics and/or Chemistry.
• Practical woodworking or technical studies experience would be advantageous.
• Experience using general hand tools.
• Experience operating cutting or machining equipment.
• Familiarity with laboratory or testing environments would be advantageous.
• Awareness of safe handling practices when working with chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test samples and moulds for laboratory testing.
• Manage and maintain laboratory test samples.
• Prepare samples using equipment including band saws, routers, lathes, sanders and CNC machinery.
• Prepare moulds by cleaning, assembling and maintaining them for testing.
• Support trials by gathering materials, weighing components and mixing materials.
• Conduct testing in accordance with procedures and international standards.
• Support maintenance activities, including cleaning and replenishing supplies.

Laboratory Support Operator

Responsibilities

• The Laboratory Support Operator will prepare test samples and moulds, perform laboratory testing activities, and support departmental trials to ensure testing is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with defined standards.


• Manage and maintain laboratory test samples.


• Prepare test samples using equipment including band saws, routers, lathes, sanders and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery.


• Prepare moulds by cleaning, assembling and maintaining them for testing activities.


• Support departmental trials by gathering materials, weighing components and mixing materials.


• Conduct testing in accordance with documented procedures and international standards.


• Support departmental maintenance activities, including cleaning, replenishing supplies, painting and minor repairs.


• Work shifts as required to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications

• O Grade/Standard Grade qualifications in Mathematics, English, Physics and/or Chemistry.
