Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead the clinical microbiology and public health laboratory services. You will coordinate staff, monitor performance, and drive service quality and timeliness.

You will work under clinical leadership to develop SOPs, manage budgets, and implement improvements, including business continuity, safety, and integration of new diagnostic techniques into patient pathways.

Qualifications

• Registration with HCPC as Biomedical Scientist or equivalent.
• Postgraduate qualification in Infection Sciences (MSc or Fellowship).
• Extensive technical and managerial infection sciences laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate and monitor clinical/public health microbiology lab services.
• Manage workflows, staffing, rostering, training and succession planning.
• Oversee equipment, supplier liaison, budgets and service improvement.
