We are currently looking for a Laboratory Manager to join our friendly team based at our site in Wolverhampton.

Main Responsibilities

As a Laboratory Manager, you will establish the new Technical Centre at Hilton Main as a fully functioning and productive service to the business. You will manage and develop the technical team, work on facility management and manage the technical centre laboratory; providing a high level of customer service.

On a day to day basis, the duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Manager will include (not exhaustive):

1. Working closely with the Regional and Area Technical Managers and their teams to ensure a positive interaction for mutual benefit, optimising identification, development and utilisation of technical innovation.
2. Providing multi-discipline technical training to the business.
3. Identifying future testing requirements; planning/resourcing/actioning accordingly.
4. Planning the strategic development of laboratory systems and infrastructure.
5. Effectively managing the laboratory to agreed budgets.
6. Maintaining and developing the laboratory IT systems.
7. Managing relationships with key suppliers and sub-contractors.

The ideal candidate

Ideally the Laboratory Manager will be:

1. Able to lead, develop and inspire both direct reports and colleagues in your wider organisation to cultivate high performing teams.
2. Show a good understanding of both industry and Tarmac current product availability and keen to focus on future needs/opportunities.
3. Be able to show a strong knowledge of current asphalt product testing methods.
4. Have strong planning, organising and time management skills.
