Position Summary:

The R&D Lab Manager is responsible for the operational oversight of the research and development laboratory. This role ensures the lab operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the innovation goals of the company. The Lab Manager will support a team of scientists and researchers while also collaborating cross-functionally with facilities, procurement, health and safety, and quality assurance teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure regular maintenance and accurate calibration of R&D equipment to support reliable experimental outcomes and compliance with quality standards
  • Maintain R&D laboratory stocks and supplies, including reagents and consumables, using an in-house inventory management system and external procurement processes to support and accelerate R&D activities
  • Maintain and track accurate records of R&D sample inventory to ensure efficient sample management, traceability, and adherence to research protocols
  • Perform routine processing of blood and tissue samples using established protocols, including plasma isolation, genomic DNA extraction, quantification, DNA library preparation, and sequencing
  • Implement and oversee health and safety (H&S) protocols to promote a safe, efficient, and fully compliant laboratory environment
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key operational functions, including waste management, H&S, IT support, and biological safety

Experience, Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field and/or several years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Detail-oriented and thorough with a strong sense of urgency
  • Proactive, organized, and efficient in managing tasks and setting priorities
  • Effective communicator, able to clearly convey information and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills for developing productive relationships with a diverse range of colleagues
  • Capable of working independently in fast-paced, multitasking environments while upholding high quality standards
  • Experience in core molecular biology techniques e.g. DNA extraction, PCR, DNA library preparation and sequencing (desirable)
  • Familiar with automated liquid handling platforms (desirable)
