Job description

Scientific Services Hanningfield Laboratory at Hanningfield Water Treatment Works, Essex

We’re open to discussing flexible working

About the role

Join us at our Hanningfield Laboratory as a Laboratory Analyst and play a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, great-tasting drinking water to our communities. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dedicated team providing essential analytical services that protect public health and the environment.

In this role, you'll be hands-on in the laboratory, carrying out routine analysis with a strong focus on Microbiology. You'll also support our operations by working in sample reception, using our integrated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to receive and log incoming samples.

You’ll help manage the flow of sample containers, ensuring their timely receipt and dispatch to clients.

Whether you're starting out or looking to grow your skills, we’ll provide full training across all areas of work. If you’re detail-oriented, motivated by purpose, and ready to make a difference through science, we’d love to hear from you.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.

Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.

Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked

About you

We’re looking for someone who can confidently read, understand, and follow health and safety instructions, as well as detailed analytical methods and procedures. You’ll bring experience from working in a quality-controlled environment, such as GMP or GLP, where precision and compliance are key.

Your ability to follow complex written instructions with accuracy, combined with a sharp eye for detail and a methodical approach, will be essential to your success in this role. As a true team player, you’ll be flexible and supportive, always ready to step in and collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth, efficient operations.

Interviews will take place, either in person or online, week commencing 07 July 2025.
